How the size to weight calculator works

Weight = Volume(ft³) × material density(lb/ft³)

We convert the block's dimensions to cubic feet (length × width × height ÷ 1728), then multiply by the density of the material. Concrete is about 150 lb/ft³, water 62.4, steel 490, and softwood around 35.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a cubic foot of concrete weigh?

About 150 pounds for standard concrete, so a cubic yard (27 ft³) weighs roughly 4,000 pounds.

How do I estimate an object's weight from its size?

Find its volume in cubic feet, then multiply by the material's density in pounds per cubic foot.
